Mexico loses, but reaches 2nd round
Some teams just have all the luck, no matter what they do. Just ask Mexico, which qualified for the second round of the World Cup on Wednesday. The Mexicans missed a key penalty kick early in the second half, had a player red-carded and then dropped a 2-1 Group D decision to Portugal., 2-1. The Mexicans still managed to survive and play another day.

In a game that was seemingly losing its energy, Mexico struck twice within a three-minute span to turn tied match into a 3-1 World Cup victory over Iran on Sunday. Omar Bravo connected for his second goal of the match in the 76th minute and second-half sub Zinha added an insurance tally in the 79th minute at a sold-out Franken-Stadion.
