CARSON, Calif. -- If David Beckham is going to the New York Cosmos as a player and a part-owner, then it's news to him.
The LA Galaxy midfielder said on Thursday there was no truth to the report that he will join the Cosmos after he plays his final game for his Major League Soccer club this weekend. The Galaxy will take on the Houston Dynamo in MLS Cup on Saturday.
"I've been hearing the Cosmos thing for the last two-three years," Beckham said at a press conference at The Home Depot Center. "This is not true."
He said his manager was not in contact with the Cosmos, who will play in the North American Soccer League next year as an expansion team.
The Sunday World in Ireland reported that Beckham would be joining the Cosmos as a player and part-owner next season.
