Galaxy midfielder Kyle Martino is in the Netherlands on trial with Dutch side NEC Nijmegen, according to Yanks Abroad.

Martino will be with the club the remainder of the week.

Should he latch on with the Eredivisie side, Martino could potentially have more of an impact in the Netherlands than he did with the Galaxy. After joining the Galaxy along with John Wolyniec in a trade that sent Joseph Ngwenya and Ned Grabavoy to Columbus on May 12, Martino appeared in just nine regular-season games. A torn labrum in his left hip sidelined Martino for much of the season.

Martino had just one assist in 555 minutes of action for the Galaxy this year. Overall, he scored one goal, which was actually costly to the Galaxy. Martino bagged a stoppage-time winner in Columbus' 1-0 win over the Galaxy on April 22.

NEC Nijmegen are currently in the 13th place out of 18 Dutch Eredivisie clubs. Nijmegen boasts one World Cup 2006 veteran, Paraguayan midfielder Edgar Barreto, who joined Nijmegen from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno in 2003.
