LIVERPOOL -- Landon Donovan made sure his final game on loan to Everton FC was a memorable one Sunday.
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder came off the bench to score the fourth goal and set up the final goal in the Toffees' 5-1 triumph over Hull City in an English Premier League game at Goodison Park.
Former MetroStars goalkeeper Tim Howard played the entire game in net while ex-Red Bulls striker Jozy Altidore came off the bench for Hull in defeat.
But the day belonged to Donovan, who took a victory lap around the stadium in his final match before the home crowd. He returns home to MLS on March 15, when the loan agreement ends.
“First of all, winning was important and it’s nice to get a goal,” Donovan told reporters after the game. “There is a chance. We will know more this week. If that was it then I’m happy. Maybe we can stay a little longer, we’ll see.
“The fans, the people here are fantastic, the players are fantastic. I’ve enjoyed it.”
Donovan made it 4-1 in the 81st minute and set up Jack Rodwell.
