GALINDO GETS THE GOALS
Leads Chivas to 3-1 pre season win

IRAPUATO, Mexico – With two goals by Maykel Galindo, Chivas USA defeated Irapuato 3-1 in a preseason exhibition game on Saturday night at Sergio León Chávez Stadium, in front of 15,000 fans. It was the first victory during the team’s preseason camp in Mexico and the fourth consecutive win in preseason overall.

After only 38th minutes into the game, Chivas USA was already ahead by 3-0, when Irapuato’s defender Ghandi Vega scored an own goal and Galindo increased the lead with two goals in only seven minutes. In the seventh minute, Vega tried to clear the ball on a cross by Ante Jazic but the Irapuato defender hit it inside his own net.

In the 31st minute, Jorge Flores received a magnificent ball from Blair Gavin and crossed the ball to Galindo, who hit it inside the box to defeat Irapuato goalkeeper Humberto Martinez. Seven minutes later, Galindo received the ball on a header by Justin Braun and after dribbling one defender, he put it to the far right post to score his second goal of the night and increase the lead by three.

Irapuato kept pressuring after Chivas USA’s third goal and was awarded with a penalty kick when Mariano Trujillo took down Roberto Saucedo inside the box and Irapuato’s Ariel Gonzáles scored the penalty kick before the halftime whistle.

Chivas USA Head Coach Martín Vásquez made several substitutions during the second half , including Goalkeeper Jon Conway for Dan Kennedy. Conway made many key saves during the second half to maintain the score 3-1. Midfielder Osael Romero played his first game with Chivas when he came in as a sub at halftime.

The Red-and-White will travel back to Guadalajara on Sunday and will resume training on Monday before taking on U. de G. in Guadalajara on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT.
