UCLA men sign seven
The UCLA Bruins have signed seven players to national letters of intent. Joining the freshman class of 2008 will be midfielder/defender Chris Cummings, midfielder Daren Flitcroft, defender Oscar Reyes, midfielder/defender Andrew Rose, goalkeeper Joseph Scachetti, midfielder Christian Vazquez and defender Zach Zerrenner. Bruin women sign seven
Seven players have signed national letters of intent to join UCLA’s women’s soccer team. Headlining the group are four players with youth national team experience, while two more are Region-IV ODP Team members. All seven players will be freshmen in the fall of 2008. Complete story

Kenny named assistant at UCLA
Former Major League Soccer player Kenny Arena has been hired as an assistant coach for the UCLA men’s soccer team. Arena was an assistant coach at George Mason last season and a volunteer coach for the University of Virginia in 2006. Complete story

HONDA FINALISTS
USC’s Olsen, UCLA’s Cheney on list of four
USC goalkeeper Kristin Olsen and UCLA forward Lauren Cheney have been named finalists for the 2007-08 Honda Sports Award, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards announced today. One of the highest honors for a female athlete, the Honda Award is presented to the top woman collegiate athlete in each sport every year. Complete story
