Cal State Fullerton's Marc Fenelus
Cal State Fullerton's Marc Fenelus is the LA Soccer News Menís College Player of the Week after leading the Titans to a 3-2 victory over Grand Canyon.
Fenelus scored the second goal goal and then set up Steven Ortiz's winner as CSUF (3-5-0) wrapped up its nonconference schedule with back-to-back wins that followed a four-game losing streak.
The junior forward from Turks and Caicos came off the bench to extend the Titans' lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute, dancing past the Grand Canyon defense to finish in the box. The Antelopes trimmed the deficit 13 minutes into the second half, but Fenelus set up the decisive goal, threading the ball into the box from the right flank for Ortiz to finish in the 68th minute.
The goal was Fenelus' first for the Titans, the assist his second, after a sensational couple of seasons at Western Texas Junior College. He scored 40 goals with 19 assists in two years at the JC level, winning second-team All-America acclaim after netting 25 goals with 14 assists as a sophomore.
