The Los Angeles Galaxy announced the signing of Carlos Pavon, a forward with the Honduran national team.

"He's the missing piece that our team has been looking for," said coach Frank Yallop.

The Galaxy have struggled to finish this season.

Pavon proved during the 2007 Gold Cup to be deadly in front of the goal. He scored four times in a match versus Cuba.

"For me, it's a great experience," said Pavon on joining the Galaxy. "MLS has grown a lot, and I hope to grow with it. To be able to help the Galaxy is an important goal for me.

Alexi Lalas, Galaxy general manager, was pleased at the move.

"Carlos is the latest in a long line of quality internationals to join the Galaxy," said Lalas.

The Galaxy now have a surplus of forward options and could look to make a trade.
