GALAXY LAND THOMAS Ex-Wizards defender joins Galaxy
The Galaxy acquired defender Shavar Thomas from Kansas City on Friday in exchange for a conditional second-round draft pick in next year's SuperDraft.
Thomas, 26, played in 26 games and logged 2,147 in Kansas City's central defense a year ago. In four years in MLS, Thomas has played in 91 games and has three goals.
Thomas was the 10th overall draft pick by Dallas in the 2003 draft but was dealt to Kansas City in exchange for Eric Quill and Carey Talley.
A native of Hannah Town, Jamaica, Thomas joins countryman Tyrone Marshall on the Galaxy's backline. With players possibly leaving the Galaxy on international duty this summer as well as a busy calendar the Galaxy will face, Thomas' addition comes at seemingly a good time.
